The Whirlwind of London

Saturday

We walked all over town and went to . . .

Liberty’s of London
Chinatown
A REAL music store
And a flower stall

Sunday Morning

We went to . . .

The Changing of the Guard
Saint James Park
The Choral Concert

Monday

We went to . . .

Windsor Castle

Tuesday

We went to . . .

Leake Street Arches
With more graffiti
And some more graffiti

Then we went to . . .

Borough Market
Cheese at the Borough Market

That night the rest of our theatre group arrived from San Diego and we all had dinner together.

Wednesday

We took two backstage tours – The National Theater and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden

Inside the National Theater
Backstage at the Royal Opera House

That night we attended a musical.

Standing at the Sky’s Edge in the Gillian Lynn Theatre

Some of our jet lagged theater group had a hard time staying awake.

Thursday

We toured Hampton Court – a bus ride of at least an hour each way.

We took the garden tour.

Garden at Hampton Court

And we saw an indoor tennis court.

Indoor tennis at Hampton Court
And Potters Field

That night we went to see Guys and Dolls at the Bridge Theater

Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat
At the Hot Box
Onstage at Intermission

Friday

We went to the Cabinet War Rooms

The map room

That night we saw Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Globe Theatre.

We had seats but many in the audience stood throughout
Onstage revelry
St. Paul’s Cathedral from the outdoor cafe at the Old Globe Theatre during intermission

Saturday

We took a tour of the Houses of Parliament. Here we are with our fave guide Sean.

It‘s amazing how much these guides know.
A great group

That night we attended another play.

London Tide at the National Theatre

Sunday

We took a boat trip to Greenwich.

An Uber Boat on the Thames

We took a tour of the clipper ship Cutty Sark. (I thought of you Brudder Bob.)

The Cutty Sark in Greenwich
Linda at the Bow of the Cutty Sark

I enjoyed the display of figureheads.

Ships Figureheads

Then we walked up to the Royal Observatory.

The view from the top was amazing!

Here I am at the Prime Meridian.

One foot is in each hemisphere.

On the way back to the boat I stopped at the Greenwich Market and had some retail therapy.

We took the boat back to the hotel. That night we packed our suitcases for the train trip to Edinburgh the following day.

More to follow . . .

Best.

Mary
