Early the next morning we flew from Oslo to Tromso where we were met at the airport and bused into town. We left our luggage under the care of NatGeo, then “hit the streets” of Tromso.
In the winter Tromso is a prime location for observing the Aurora Borealis, yet even in the summer it is surprisingly crowded. It is the launching point for fjord cruises, summer vacation holidays, and wilderness treks.
After a successful shopping excursion for things that didn’t quite make it into our suitcases back in San Diego, we had lunch at this cozy cafe.

Then we visited some local landmarks.

At the end of the afternoon we boarded our ship, the National Geographic Endurance. AT 7 PM we set sail.

We will be traveling down the coast of Norway to the Shetland Islands, the Faroe Islands, and around Iceland. Here is the map of our upcoming journey.

Come along with me.
Best..
Mary
