The End of a Wonderful Journey

Dear Friends,

We are in Heathrow waiting for tomorrow’s return flight to San Diego.

It has been a wonderful trip! Thank you for following along with Charlotte and me!!

Some of you might be curious about our ship. The Endurance is one of Lindblad’s newest.

This is our favorite breakfast and lunch cafe on the top deck.

Here’s the library with our new friends Nancy and Bruce
Here’s our meeting room where we have talks on birds, whales, plant life, geology, the Vikings, and photography lessons. Always interesting!

It was a fantastic expedition, but alas we had to disembark in Rekyavik

We spent two days there. On our first day we visited the Harpa, Iceland’s premier concert hall, built in 2011.

A cozy neighborhood close to the center of town.

Charlotte got inspired by some local artists.

Those two were kindred spirits

The next day I visited The Phallalogical Museum of Norway.

It was a hoot!

I couldn’t leave Rekyavik without partaking in a geothermal bath at one of the spas. Based on the recommendation of some of my SD friends I went to a newer spa called the Sky Lagoon.

It sits just along a quiet inlet in the outskirts of Rekyavik

I didn’t take my camera out in the water for obvious reasons and I’m having a hard time finding pictures to share. But rest assured it was a relaxing afternoon of soaking in the warm waters with a view of the sky, the large boulders, and the quiet inlet. I don’t want to make this sound like a commercial, but I think many of you might find this to be a unique experience if you ever visit Iceland.

Tomorrow I get to come home to Bruno!

    Thank you, Mary; you capture the essence of east destination! I loved it!  I had hoped to get in touch with you by now. I arrived back from Italy on May 11 but promptly had sewer problems – the plumbers jackhammered through my living room floor to replace pipe and were here for four days. I am better now but was sick for weeks due to the mold/toxins released in the process.  Let’s make a plan to get together when convenient!  Til then,Carol
